and Sustainability

Master konzeptuelles entwerfen in Sommersemester 2018

Point of departure is the current public investment in School buildings in Germany. The new public Lower and Upper Secondary School in Erfurt is part of this programme and has a profile of focusing on Collaboration and Sustainability.

Students practice how contemporary discourses of pedagogic and sustainability transforms into architecture. On one hand we be will looking into Scandinavian school of architecture and pedagogical principals. On the other hand we will study the United Nations Sustainable goals as an example of a relevant context that an architect of today has to reflect on her or his work.

The class will be conducted to encourage the students to involve in high-energy discussion, interaction – and production. Students are expected to work dedicated and curious and be initiative taking if they choose to take part in the course. Every student makes a learning journal to document the intellectual progress. Purpose of this is to make students reflect on the methods they use, to make them a good collaboration partner and to train students in presenting and representing ideas and be understood.

Goal for the semester:

• An architectural proposal for a secondary School in Erfurt

• A learning journal

• A number of beautiful sketches bounded in a book.

A study trip to Copenhagen to study contemporary school architecture and school integration in the city is part of the class.
